A Verizon engineer is making a passionate case for the company’s “Google” logo and the need to be more transparent in how it is used, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.
The article, by the WSJ’s Adam Davidson, shows a video of a Google engineer saying that the company should be more open in its use of the company logo.
“It’s not that they’re trying to hide it.
It’s just that it doesn’t fit,” said the video of an interview with Google engineer James Martin, who is in charge of a technology team that designs and builds Android phones for Verizon.”
The logo is something that Google has done for many years,” Martin told Davidson, adding that the logo has been around for more than two decades.
“It is something people associate with Google and are loyal to, and the fact that it is so well used in the way that it has is something I think people want to be able to enjoy.
I think it’s a very good thing.”
In a video blog, Martin said that the Google logo is a “unique” symbol that reflects “our core values and values of our company,” adding that it should be “transparent.”
“We want to make sure that we’re doing everything we can to make the world a better place, and that’s something that is the core of Google,” he said.
The WSJ also reported that the Verizon engineer’s remarks have prompted Verizon to take action against Martin and his team.
The company announced Thursday that it will ban Martin from all Google-related work until he apologizes for the video.
Martin has previously spoken out about Google, saying that he feels that the “Google logo has the power to influence policy, shape behavior, and create a sense of belonging” for the tech company.
“I’m an employee of Verizon, and this is the first time I’ve ever been publicly and personally publicly called out for something that I’m actually a part of,” Martin said in a blog post Thursday.
“I’m just going to let people make their own judgements about what the truth is.
That’s the way I work.
I’m going to move on.
I have never been called out, and I will not be called out.”
The company is currently testing out a new version of its Android software that will also have a “Google badge,” Martin explained in a follow-up blog post.
“This new version will not include Google logos and icons, and it will be called ‘Vzw’ instead,” Martin wrote.
“This will allow Verizon to distinguish itself in the marketplace and to continue to make significant contributions to the advancement of mobile technology.”
Verizon has previously tried to downplay the use of its logo in advertising.
In 2014, the company said that it was working on “creating a new standard of integrity” for its advertising, adding “our team of experts are working to ensure that this change in advertising will have no impact on the brand or on our customers.”
The WSj’s Davidson noted that Martin has been the face of the tech firm’s Google-branded phones for the last 15 years.
Martin is currently working on a new device called the Pixel, which is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2018.
